About

Welcome

Hello, I am Sid Lawler

I am a qualified Counsellor and Founder of Alyssum Wellbeing - Lawler & Coe Counselling Therapy.

I offer a space where your experiences can be spoken about openly and met with care, curiosity, and respect. My role is not to define your truth, but to support you in exploring it, understanding it, and making sense of what it has meant for you. Often, this includes gently exploring not only what happened, but what you needed in those moments, and what was not received. Together, we can begin to understand how these experiences continue to shape your life, and what healing or moving forward might look like for you.

My commitment to this work is informed by both professional training and personal experience. Having witnessed and navigated the impact of difficult relationships, mental health challenges, and neurodivergence within my own life and family, I understand something of the courage it can take to speak openly about painful experiences. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of having a space where people feel safe enough to speak openly about what they have been through.

Life can leave us carrying experiences that are painful, confusing, or difficult to make sense of. Sometimes these experiences arise from challenging relationships, loss, trauma, betrayal, or from feeling unseen, unheard, or misunderstood over a long period of time. For some people, this can also lead to a sense of having lost themselves, or feeling unsure of who they are or how they have lost their way.I believe that many people come to therapy carrying stories that have never been fully heard. One of the deepest fears we can hold is that when we speak our truth, it will be denied, distorted, minimised, or misunderstood. When this happens, it can become difficult to trust our own feelings and experiences, let alone share them with someone else

I often think of therapy as sitting alongside someone beneath a sky filled with storm clouds. At times, those clouds can feel overwhelming, obscuring hope, clarity, and direction. My role is not to make them disappear or rush you towards a solution. Instead, I will sit with you and help you understand what they represent and how they have shaped your world. Together, we can stay with what feels difficult until, in time, the clouds begin to part and sunlight starts to return. In that sunlight, new perspectives, possibilities, and ways forward can begin to emerge.

I am particularly interested in working with people who have experienced adversity, trauma, difficult relationships, and life events that continue to shape how they see themselves and the world around them.

My work is rooted in a Person-Centred approach, integrating CBT techniques and other therapeutic methods where appropriate to support your individual, unique needs.

I offer 50 min counselling sessions, face-to-face, online via video call, by telephone, and through walk-and-talk therapy. Providing flexibility to find a way of working  that  best suits your needs and circumstances.
